TAKE
A WALK ON THE ARTIST SIDE
Christiansted
businesses are collaborating on an event called "ART THURSDAYS".
Art galleries, retail shops and restaurants are staying open late for
a series of gallery walks scheduled throughout the season. The purpose
of Art Thursdays is to strengthen and invigorate the St. Croix art community
by extending a monthly invitation for the public to come out and be a
part of St. Croix's enthusiastic art community. Participants working with
the primary galleries include: Danica Art Gallery, The Goldworker, ib
Designs, Maria Henle Studio, Crucian Gold, D&D Studio, Maufe Gallery,
and Gallery, Whim Museum Store and Yellow House
Gallery to you - all at once.
Christiansted gallery
and affiliated shop owners believe that having a collective open house
will encourage people to "make a night of it". Grab a friend,
explore the art venues, shop, and fall into one of the neighborhood restaurants
to enjoy dinner. Artist Maria Henle, one of Art Thursdays' coordinators
explains that having the event on Thursdays seems like a good idea since
people's schedules are busier on Friday and Saturday nights with many
other activities.
Artist Deborah Broad,
is also enthusiastic about the upcoming season of gallery walks. "It's
social, it's fun, it's different, and it invites community participation
on an otherwise quiet evening in town. Plus, with the holidays just around
the corner, there's the shopping to consider!"
