25. Sandy Point
Sandy Point

Definitely one of my favorite beaches on the island. It is just gorgeous. There is no shade provided by trees, a long haul at the end of the highway and only open on the weekends, with the exception of April-August when it is closed entirely due to turtle nesting season. They're lucky they're so cute. During this time, though, groups meet to sit at night and watch for the hatchlings. This is a great experience. Do not go alone. You can not put up an umbrella in the ground so your only protection from the sun is good ol' sunscreen which is highly recommended. It is one of the largest stretches of sandy beach in the Caribbean. The water has a drop off and gets very deep very quick. There are some sand bars to stand on and get pelted by the waves, if that gets your attention. Go ahead, try it. Sandy bottom, so sorry snorkelers- pick from any of the other million beaches we have. Sandy Point has also been the location for commercials and films.

26. Sand Castle Beach

Sand Castle Beach is the beach directly in front of the Sandcastle on the Beach Resort and Cottages by the Sea. It is a beautiful long stretch of beach with some structure for snorkeling. The calm waters prove perfect for kayaking. You can even see dolphins swimming in the distance. There is a Beach Club Day Pass for Beach Side Cafe guests. This beach is accessible by car and foot and has amenities that include a restaurant/bar, restrooms and secure parking. Snorkel equipment available for rent. This is also the location of the Frederiksted Beach Cam- tell your friends and family to see you live in St. Croix!

27. Public Beach
Public Beach

Public beach is less than a mile left of the Frederiksted Pier. It is a little beach with lots of character with an awesome view of Frederiksted and is great for watching the sunset. The bottom is, for the most part, sandy but if you swim out a ways, the snorkeling is really good. On the weekends it is crowded but does have shade under fruit trees.

28. Frederiksted Pier
Jumping off the Frederiksted pier.

If you like to fish, you will be entirely frustrated by trying your luck here. You can see fish everywhere in the crystal clear water, the problem is that they are either too smart to bite the hook or, are too spoiled by being fed people food. This is where cruise ships and military ships dock and often times throw over food that has been wasted. So why eat a worm or chicken livers when there's ribs and chicken legs. Of course, this fact doesn't stop me or the hundred other people who sit on the pier often, anxiously waiting for the fish to take the bait. The snorkeling and diving here is wonderful, and at night, the diving incredible. You'll see a lot of seahorses, squid, and other creatures. A favorite past time of local kids is jumping off the pier. Go on, do it! You'll feel like you're thirteen all over again. This is also a great location for watching the sunset at sea. Turn around and soak up the sight of the town. You get a feeling, almost as if you were standing in a painting.

29. Fort Frederik Beach
Fort Frederik Beach

To the right of the pier, across from Buddhoe park is Fort Frederik beach. Snorkeling is good here and so is the late afternoon fishing. Stay, relax, watch the sunset.

30. La Grange
La Grange Beach

This is a great beach to laze around at. You have food, drinks, and the beach bar has live entertainment every Friday and Sunday. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to you at no cost.

31. Rainbow Beach
Rainbow Beach

If a nice quiet Sunday is what you would like...forget it here. This is "the" hangout on Sunday. It has a rocky bottom and is a good dive spot. There is a beach volleyball court and a beach bar that often has live entertainment. Rainbow is very popular with families on Sunday afternoons.

32. Sprat Hall
Sprat Hall Beach

Close to shore is really rocky, but if you have a few rum punches at the local bar, you won't even notice. The snorkeling is good but please do that before you hit the bar. You have one mile of beach to walk along while the sunsets beside you, or you could opt to lounge in one of the provided chase lounges.

33. Butler Bay
Monk's Bath Some tide pools that are the home for many small fish. Lots of rocks and shells. A nice quiet beach to let your dog run around but not necessarily for you to swim.
34. Monk's Bath
Butler Bay The very rocky bottom of this beach makes for good snorkeling but not good wading. Usually un-crowded.
