The Brass Parrot at The Buccaneer Hotel is bringing back its cabaret nights for 2010, and this year they have assembled an outstanding line up of world-class musicians performing everything from Caribbean classics to bluegrass to standards from the American Songbook. Kick off the night with Moet Happy Hour in the Martel Lounge and then settle in at the Brass Parrot for a gourmet three-course meal, followed by a musical performance by artists you won’t see just anytime on St. Croix.
On January 8th and 9th, Antigua-born Barry Edwards entertains with his mix of pan-Caribbean music and contemporary songs. In the month of February, Broadway star Avery Sommers brings her brand of classic cabaret style on the 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th. This would be a perfectly romantic late Valentine’s Day celebration, for anyone who needs inspiration for that special day. On March 5th, for one performance only, Grammy-nominated Jim Van Cleve and Josh Shilling of the bluegrass ensemble Mountainheart bring a little bit of Appalachia to St. Croix. And on March 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th, singer/composer/pianist Ann Hampton Callaway performs her pop-inflected jazz standards.
These cabaret dinners are a special treat for St. Croix, and anyone looking for elegant entertainment and fantastic dining should not miss out. Spending a Caribbean winter’s evening at the Buccaneer with fine food and music is a lovely way to spend an evening that’s not like just any other weekend night. Be sure to call and make a reservation soon- those seats do fill up fast! Call The Buccaneer at 340-712-2100 or email concierge@thebuccaneer.com.
