If you’re interested…..I broke the mold.

The youngest of 4 children, all of whom got to travel the United States as their Daddy was stationed here and there (and in Key West!) A couple of years after I was born at Kessler AFB in Bilouxi , MS, Dad retired from the U.S. Navy, and the decision was made to move to Texas where all of our family was. So, that is where I grew up, in Austin. And that is where I spent most of my life. With the exception of the occasional trip across the border to Mexico. Ole.

After a few years deciding what I wanted to do when I grew up, I finally got my act together and graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now named Texas State College to try to tame its party image…really) with a degree in Political Science and History. So, naturally I produce a travel and tourism website about St. Croix. Exactly what I went to school for and I am still paying off my student loan! Lots of people want to know my story, how I/we ended up here.

I broke the mold. I was the only family member to leave the safety of the Austin, Texas nest that kept me so warm and comfortable for twenty-something years. I could shop at one thousand different stores, have a myriad of variety of goods, produce, fresh flowers (I miss!) at the grocery store at any time day and night, and only endured power outtages during thunderstorms.

And I left it all. To move to the Caribbean. St. Croix.

Now in my early thirties, and celebrating 5 years of the Island Way of Life, I am trying to manage my new family, my forgetful but very loving husband and his successful sport fishing business, and oh yes, work from home to produce one of St. Croix’s leading websites. I know spend my days changing diapers, picking up Kix Cereal off the floor, wondering when Savanna will go to sleep so I can get some work done and on occasion making banana muffins from bananas picked right in my yard! I am really not so sure how I got here, but I am glad I did. Really. This is a simpler, more fulfilling life.

It is my hope that you know my findings are as honest as the day is long. I want to show you what St. Croix is REALLY like. Just like where you live- you have your opinions of what is good, bad and ugly. I try to make to as many events as possible and share them with you. I do all the things a traveler might do, go, eat, swim….you get the idea.
