You can donate money, supplies, time or materials to any one of the island's worthy causes. Cruzan Cowgirls Horse Rescue is St. Croix’s only horse rescue and refuge. We provide sanctuary for retired racehorses, as well as homeless, neglected and abused horses here on St Coix. Each horse given a combination of veterinary care, vaccinations, worming, external parasite control, hoof care and nutritional supplementation, in addition to mental rehabilitation, based on individual needs. We also work with local youths in an effort to nurture their sense of compassion and respect for horses and all living things, and are currently working on educational programs designed to teach humane care and keeping of horses. Friends of St. Croix East End Marine Park (STXEEMP) is a nonprofit organization that supports the programs and mission of STXEEMP by promoting responsible recreation, enhancing community outreach and education, and improving compliance or regulations within the STXEEMP. Our volunteers help STXEEMP by: monitoring turtle nesting activities on several East End beaches; creating a bayside signage campaign to increase awareness of STXEEMP’s protected area status and regulations; and, supporting an ‘Eyes on the Reef’ network to help the STXEEMP management better understand legal and illegal fishing activities within the park. Healing Paws is helping to save the animals of St. Croix! Created to help mitigate the problems of overpopulation, abuse, neglect and abandonment of animals on the island, Healing Paws works closely with the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center, local veterinarians, foster parents, trainers and volunteers to help the community understand the importance of proper animal care, especially spay and neutering. You Can Help Save A Life! As the only animal shelter on St. Croix, we serve the entire community to house any unwanted or stray animals in hopes of adoption. Our shelter’s mission is to provide and promote the humane treatment of animals in our community, and to effectively put an end to pet overpopulation on our island. Sunshine Foundation is dedicated to ending pet overpopulation on St Croix by providing basic, high-volume/low-cost spay and neuter services to people and pets in need. Sunshine Foundation is a 501C3 non-profit organization that opened the doors to the sugar mill headquarters on February 24, 2009 in celebration of Spay Day USA. Clean Sweep Frederiksted is a coalition of community stakeholders dedicated to the economic development and revitalization of Frederiksted. Clean Sweep Frederiksted (CSF) spearheads various opportunities throughout the year to encourage and engage the community to participate in the ongoing beautification initiatives. On these days of service, we coordinate clean-ups throughout Frederiksted, as well as beautification projects such as street murals and the Rum Barrel Project.
