St. Patrick's Day Parade in Christiansted

In March, St. Croix enjoys temperatures ranging from the low-70’s to the mid-80’s, and one of the lowest monthly rainfall averages all year. This makes it a great month for one of the biggest annual events on St. Croix – the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Held in Christiansted, this parade is full of festive floats, live music, dancing and the quintessential mocko jumbies. The parade benefits a great cause, the benefactor of which changes each year. The party continues all day long on the boardwalk and throughout town with live music, food, drinks and general merriment.March is also the time to enjoy the arts by attending the annual St. George Village Botanical Gardens Art in the Garden weekend or the Spring Starving Artists Day at Estate Whim. For those of you looking for fitness activities, consider entering the Flight #64 Race or the Queen Mary U.V.I. 5K. On a more cultural note, March 31st is Transfer Day which commemorates the day that the Danish West Indies were formally ceded to the United States by Denmark, thus becoming the U.S. Virgin Islands. Transfer Day is celebrated throughout the island with ceremonies, music and lectures. You can also continue to enjoy a few of the recurring monthly events such as Art Thursday in Christiansted, Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted, Jazz in the Park in Christiansted, and Movies at the Fort in Christiansted. If you are on St. Croix this month, here are some events you won’t want to miss:
