Great news: The U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are exempt from the passport regulation that has been effective January 1, 2007. The U.S. Department of Justice has confirmed that traveling with a US Passport is not a requirement for American citizens when coming to St. Croix. If you don't have a passport, travel with a valid photo ID and an original copy of your birth certificate (with a raised seal) for travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
