St. Croix is pleased to host an event where potential Ironman competitors can qualify early in the season, and not have to go the full Ironman distance in order to do so. This annual triathlon features the finest array of professional athletes in the world. The St. Croix Ironman consists of a 1.24 mile swim through Christiansted Harbor, a 56 mile run that take athletes to the east end of the island and an 13.1 mile bike ride though the scenic west end and up the notorious Beast. This race traditionally takes place the first Sunday in May.

The 13th Annual St. Croix Coral Reef Swim will take place on October 19, 2008. Swimmers will gather at Buck Island and at the sound of the Conch Shell swim 2 or 5 miles to the Buccaneer Hotel. The race is limited to just 200 participants, so don't delay in making your reservations for one the best open water swimming events in the world. Swimming enthusiasts will appreciate that the race dedicates its profits to The Nature Conservancy for the protection of the waters, coral, fish and sea life surrounding St Croix.

Over 500 women gather for the annual Women Race which benefits the St. Croix Women's Coalition. The Women's Coalition is an organization that helps women and families in need. Each year, women of all ages gather to race in the name of women's unity and strength. The race alternates its location between Christiansted and Frederiksted each year. Challenge The Beast

Challenge St. Croix's most notorious climb the sport has to offer: THE BEAST. The Beast is a 0.7-mile-long stretch of highway that features a 600-foot climb with an average grade of 14 percent and a maximum grade of 18 percent. Challenge the Beast is part of the St. Croix Ironman events.

This Race is held annually at the Christiansted Fort. Toast-To-The Captain is a 8.4 mile road race, a Virgin Islands Pace Runners Black History event to honor of Captain Teddy Seymour who was the first African American to sail around the world alone.

Annual Run to Your Library starts at 6am in front of the Florence Williams Public Library in Christiansted. This events take place in April . The race consists of a 5K loop (3.1 miles). There will be awards for the top finishers and certificates to all participants.

Teams of four members run four legs of a relay from Fort Christiansted in Christiansted to the Fort Frederik in Frederiksted covering a total of 25 kilometers.

In this race, the VI Pace Runners has teamed up with the Ten Thousand Helpers to help raise funds and awareness of the mentally ill. The Ten Thousand Helpers is an organization comprised of local artists and artisans that wish to address the needs of the homeless and mentally ill and use art as a healing tool.

The triathlon starts just north of Frederiksted at Coconuts on the Beach. It includes a half-mile swim, 11.5-mile bike route and three-mile run. The youth race is shorter for 12- to 16-year-olds. Their course includes a quarter-mile swim, seven-mile bike race and 1.5-mile run.

Caribbean Classic Triathlon

This triathlon has been deemed "Beauty without the Beast". The race was a huge success the past two years, and will remain an athlete favorite for years to come. The Caribbean Classic now features a Pro Prize Purse of $10,000 along with a Caribbean Championship Purse of $5,000. It's a weekend of fun events including pre- and post-race functions. The breakdown of the race is as follows: SWIM: 1500 meters, BIKE 25 miles and RUN 6.2 miles. Please see the website for the full course description and to register on-line.
