Did you know a US Passport is not required for American citizens when coming to St. Croix? If you don’t have a passport, bring a valid photo ID and an original copy of your birth certificate (with a raised seal) when traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you are traveling from another country (not a U.S. Citizen) a valid passport from your country of origin is required. We ALWAYS recommend you travel with a passport, especially since the British Virgin Islands (BVI) are just a short plane ride away and you can not enter with out a passport!

Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX)

The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) is located about six miles southwest of Christiansted on St. Croix. HERA is served by two major domestic carriers and receives daily inter-island flights as well as cargo and military aircraft. The two-story terminal is 181,000 square feet and has 10 gates. The airport encompasses 1,455 acres which includes an asphalt runway measuring 10,004 x 150 feet. Construction of the present terminal and expansion of the runway from 7,600 to 10,000 feet was completed in 2002.

The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) is embarking on an exciting new Public Private Partnership (P3) project modernizing and enhancing the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (HERA) on St. Croix. Stay tuned for updates!

Gallows Bay Marine Dock

The Gallows Bay Dock, located in Christiansted, is a vital link for small cargo vessels serving St. Croix and other Caribbean islands. The dock is conveniently located about a mile from downtown Christiansted. The length of the dock is 400 feet with a maximum draft of 13 feet. This dock accommodates mini-cruise vessels, small inter-island sloops, ferries, private yachts, cargo vessels, and U.S. Coast Guard vessels.

The facility is equipped with a passenger lounge, a lighted walkway, public telephones, limited covered and open storage areas, and a roll-on/roll-off ramp. Forklifts and other services are available via the ship's agent. Shopping is also available in Christiansted and nearby at Chandler's Wharf.

Location

Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility (Frederiksted Pier)

Cruise Ship at Frederiksted Pier

The Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility, located in the heart of Frederiksted, is the only cruise ship port on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. The 1,526-foot pier has drafts of 29 feet on the north and 36 feet on the south side of the pier. The dock can accommodate Voyager-Class vessels on the south berth and smaller cruise ships on the north berth. Anchorage is also available in the outer harbor for larger ships and is arranged via the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR). The platform of the pier is equipped with a fendering system that is designed for submarines. All berths at this facility have access to potable water via water haulers requested through VIPA's marine office in St. Croix.

The pier is a popular destination for diving enthusiasts, snorkeling, sport fishermen, and other ocean sport competitions. However, access to the pier is restricted when there is a cruise ship in port, and only ship passengers and crew are allowed onto the pier. Snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming around the pier are not allowed when there is a ship docked both for the public's safety and for the security of the ship.

A shopping area is located within walking distance to the pier. Additionally, ground transportation and tours are available from the pier to historical sites, beaches, and other excursions. There are public restrooms located near the entrance of the pier. Several restaurants and stores are within walking distance of the pier.

For more information about the Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility, go to the Virgin Islands Port Authority website at viport.com.
