As the only animal shelter on St. Croix. we serve the entire community to house any unwanted or stray animals in hopes of adoption. Our shelter's mission: To provide and promote the humane treatment of animals in our community and to effectively put an end to pet overpopulation on our island.

We are making great strides with the combined efforts of our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program, Humane Education Program, and our Animal ControlDepartment. Traveling to St. Croix or not, YOU CAN HELP SAVE A LIFE! See more information about our Pets-From-Paradise program by visiting our website.

REMEMBER: we do not have snakes on St. Croix, and want to keep it that way. Snakes are not allowed to be transported to St. Croix.

You should check with your airline carrier for their policy regarding pets on the plane. For the most part, there are certain times of the year when larger pets cannot be in cargo because the temperature is either too hot or too cold. The airlines require you give them notice and there is a charge.

If you are moving with your pet, there are very competent veterinarians on island to take your animals to. Please be advised that because of the climate, it is highly recommended that you keep your animal on a persistent heartworm and flea/tick preventative. The diseases that they cause are extremely preventable, but expensive to cure and even deadly.

Remember - there are turtle nesting beaches on St. Croix where dogs are not permitted. Please obey all signs and requests to help protect the turtles. If you take your dog hiking or walking with you- remember that he needs water, too! Dogs must be leashed at all times in the National Parks and Health Department regulations do not allow dogs in eating establishments.
