Christiansted, St. Croix

The historic town of Christiansted is located on St. Croix's east end. Several historic buildings and land make up part of the National Park System. Boutiques, restaurants, and cafes line the streets. Christiansted is also home to several events such as Jump Up and Art Thursday. This colorful, not-so-sleepy Caribbean town sits right on the waterfront with a boardwalk that hugs its border from the sea-plane hub to Fort Christearvern.

  • A passenger ferry makes its way through Christiansted harbor.
  • The Scale House, located on the waterfront, was where sugar and rum were weighed before export.
  • Chrisiansted is abundant with a variety of shops and open air restaurants.
  • Fort Christiansvaern once protected the town from pirates, privateers and slave uprisings.
  • The governement once collected taxes on imports and exports here at the Customs House.
  • Several accommodations in town offer breathtaking harbor views.
  • Known as Government House, this building houses several government offices and an apartment for the Governor and his family when they are on St. Croix.

  • A boardwalk extends from the sea plane dock all the way through town, making it easy to navigate.
  • Take some time to explore the National Park Land in Christiansted.
  • Seven historic buildings and over 20 acres of land make up the National Park in Christiansted.
  • The Steeple Building was St. Croix's first Lutheran church.  It has also been a hospital, bakery and school
