Let’s face it, when you think of vacationing in the Caribbean you imagine yourself with your toes in the sand and a tropical cocktail (or beer) in your hand as you look out over the brilliant blue water.  Well, St. Croix has a variety of beach bars that will allow you to make your dreams of sipping a cold drink beachside come true!

On the North Shore…

Lounge on the picturesque beach at Cane Bay, check out the walk-up bar offered by eat @ cane bay just across the street from the beach.  Or take a break from the sun, rinse off your feet, and enjoy a cocktail or B.Y.O.B. (Build Your Own Burger) at eat’s open-air bar overlooking the palm tree lined beach.  If you are looking for something a little less crowded, and a little “greener”, head over to the Mahogany Bar that sits both pool and beachside at The Palms at Pelican Cove resort.  The Palms is the Virgin Island’s first Blue Flag award winning property, which symbolizes that a property is internationally recognized as offering the highest standards regarding water quality, safety, environmental management and education.  Enjoy a drink or two in the shade of the bar poolside, or in one of the lounge chairs out on the beach.

 On the Christiansted boardwalk…

Okay, it’s not a beach, but if you want to indulge in cocktails overlooking the water then head to Christiansted’s boardwalk.  Enjoy cool ocean breezes on the boardwalk as you look out over Christiansted Harbor.  Stop into the hopping local favorite RumRunner’s, and don’t forget to stop by the GoToStCroix.com Christiansted Harbor Web Cam located at RumRunner’s Deck Bar and wave hello to your friends and family.  Many evenings you can enjoy some live music or crab races at Fort Christian Brew Pub, and you can throw your leftovers to the hungry tarpon waiting just off the boardwalk. Want a simple beer without all the frills? Then go to Comanche Mill Yacht-Less Club and sit next to the sugar mill while you enjoy a cold one.

 On the East End…

Stop into Deep End Bar & Grill at Tamarind Reef and enjoy a drink overlooking the pool and the ocean as the you listen to the sound of the waves crash over the North Shore’s beautiful Tamarind Reef.  Deep End also offers “Disco Bingo” and crab races weekly, so join in the fun!  If you really want to relax, you can get beachside service with resort amenities at The Buccaneer’s Mermaid Beach.  Take your cocktail with you as you enjoy the warm, clear Caribbean water, or grab a lounge chair and relax in the shade of the palm tree lined beach.  If you feel like driving around to the South Shore, Divi Carina Bay Resort has Bay’s Big Al’s bar, offering great frozen cocktails both pool and beachside.  Relax in one of the many lounge chairs or hammocks as you sip your cocktail and listen to the sounds of the Caribbean ocean.

 On the West End…

If you are looking for a bit more of a crowd and a Caribbean beach party atmosphere, visit Frederiksted’s Rhythms at Rainbow Beach.  Enjoy live music, beach volleyball and great drinks all with your toes in the sand or floating in the calm turquoise waters.  Or, catch a famous St. Croix sunset from Frederiksted’s Freedom City Bar & Grill, a favorite hangout for local stand up paddle boarders.  Freedom City offers great burgers and Baja-style Mexican favorites, in a family-friendly, relaxed environment.  Both Rhythms at Rainbow Beach and Freedom City Bar & Grill are the place to be on days cruise ships are in port, since they are within walking distance, or a short taxi ride from the Frederiksted Pier.

No matter which direction you are heading, or what kind of vibe you are looking for, St. Croix has a beach bar just waiting for you!  So, enjoy the sand between your toes, the sun on your face, and the warm Caribbean waters on your skin all while enjoying a refreshing tropical drink.  Ahhh…welcome to America’s Paradise!
