Activity Ideas for Wedding Guests and Newlyweds

While you are not required to plan every day of your wedding guests trips, it is nice to have some group activities and optional excursions planned for while they are here. Many of your guests may be piggy-backing their family vacation onto your big day, so leave some time for guests to do their own thing too. But remember, they have come all this way to celebrate with you and you should offer some activity options for them. Group activities provide a great opportunity for guests to mingle and get to know each other too! We’ve put together a few suggestions for fun and engaging group activities so your guests can experience St. Croix.

Welcome Dinner

A great idea to get all of your guests acquainted is to host a Welcome Dinner in lieu of a Rehearsal Dinner. Traditionally, out of town guests are invited to the rehearsal dinner along with the wedding party and immediate family. Having a destination wedding means all of your guests are from out of town, so it’s best to include everyone. By having a Welcome Dinner you can gather all of your guests together before the big event so that you can connect with each of them and they can get acquainted with one another. This can range from a fancy seated dinner to a super casual gathering at a burger joint or beach bar. (Don’t forget to discuss who is hosting this event while you’re budgeting.)

Central Meeting Place

Designating a central meeting place can help your guests find one another each day while they are here. This could be the breakfast buffet at the hotel you’re staying at or a casual daily activity like a morning trip to the beach or walk around the hotel property.

A Trip to Buck Island

A must-see while on St. Croix, day trips to Buck Island are popular among wedding parties. They offer a fun day on the water, a chance to spend quality time with your guests, and a glimpse into the underwater world around St. Croix. There are several great companies that can take you to Buck Island, and each one can customize the experience for your group. Half day or full day, sailing or motor boat, and more. Any of the Captains will be happy to work with you to provide a fabulous trip for you and your guests. Day Tripping to Buck Island

Caribbean Night

Sit back and let someone else do the planning. Several resorts on St. Croix host themed Caribbean Nights weekly. This is a fun and easy way to get your group together for a dinner buffet and entertainment that may include a variety of cultural performances like Mocko Jumbies, Fire Dancing, and more.

Island Tours

While you and your guests are on St. Croix, you might as well take a look around! An island tour is a great way to get to know this wonderful place where you’ve chosen to get married. And there are many styles of guided tours available to best suit your group’s level of fitness, adventure, and interests. An open-air safari bus, dirt road ATV tours, food tours, farm tours, walking tours through St. Croix’s historic towns, kayak tours by day or night. You can even hire a local guide to take your group on a hike that includes ecology and botany. An island tour will give your guests some history and insight into St. Croix. Visit our Guided Tours, Hiking, and Kayak pages for more info.

Golfing

This is a great activity to get guests together for an outing. People form great bonds over a round of golf. Think about mixing and matching some foursomes so that your guests can get to know each other better. There are 2 world-class golf courses, as well as a 9 hole course. There’s even mini-golf if your group skews younger with children. Choose your course.

Brunch

After a long weekend of celebrations, sleep in Sunday morning and then meet everyone for Sunday Brunch. Brunch is big on St. Croix and plenty of restaurants offer great options. If you’ve got a big group interested in going, make sure to call ahead for reservations!

Relax

After all the planning, traveling, and spending time with your guests, it’s time to treat yourselves to some pampering. You and your spouse can run off together for a couples massage.
