Turtle's Deli Sandwich St. Croix

Turtle's Deli Sandwich St. CroixWhat more could you want than a delicious lunch with a view? A delicious lunch – served on homemade bread – with a view!Turtle’s Deli is the definition of laid-back island style. Turtles is a mom & pop shop, owned and run by Bob and Mary Scribner, selling killer deli sandwiches. I’d go as far as to say they are the best deli sandwiches on St. Croix. It’s an unassuming little shop, just a deli counter and some drink coolers inside. Seating is outdoors overlooking the incredibly blue, incredibly calm Caribbean Sea.When you order you sandwich (or salad), Bob will tell you to help yourself to chips and drinks, pay when you are finished eating – everything is on the honor system. When your order is ready they’ll call your name to come pick it up.The covered outdoor seating area is simple but whimsically charming. There are paintings of turtles and underwater creatures on the walls and ceilings. If you look around, you’ll notice colorfully painted turtles fashioned out of metal among the scattered seashells and sand. You don’t need much in the way of decor when the seating area spills out onto a white sand beach. You certainly won’t be disappointed with the food either. I’ve done my best at sampling their menu, but on this visit I went with a favorite, the “Tropical.” Honey ham, melted muenster cheese, fresh island pineapple with honey mustard on thick cut, homemade multi-grain bread. Did I mention they make all the bread in house daily? Choose from a variety of flavors including Marbled Rye, Marbled Wheat, Pumpernickel, Italian, Sourdough, Multi-grain, Roasted Garlic, Romano Swiss & Parsley, and French.Like I said, what more could you want?
