STX Pride Parade & Health Fair
Saturday, June 24th the annual STX Pride Parade and Health Fair will take place in Christiansted from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The parade will organize at Gallows Bay at 9:00am then kick off at base of Company Street at 10:00am, ending in front of Government House and The Courtyard. The Health Fair organized by Frederiksted Healthcare will take place on Queen Cross Street from 11:30am to 3:00pm.
St. Croix Pride, Inc. works toward a future without discrimination where all people have equal rights under the law. Through education, outreach, and celebration of our diverse communities, we promote a world free of prejudice and bias, and serve to educate, motivate, support, liberate, and celebrate our community in order to honor and protect the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) legacy for future generations. The organization is operated by volunteers who have presented pride celebrations on St. Croix since 2014. Celebration and advocacy activities have included art exhibits, parades, beach parties, faith activities, brunches, dance parties, dives, hikes, forums, and performances by a dance troupe from Toronto. Canada. Sponsorships and funds raised at events sponsored by the organization have supported leadership training activities for student groups, donation to the St. Croix Foundation’s Hurricane Relief Fund, scholarships for students and artists, donation to the Annual Homeless Count Project, donation for medical expenses of an LGBTQ community member, advocacy efforts in conjunction with Puerto Rico LGBTQ support organizations, a welcome event for passengers on the Olivia Cruise visiting St. Croix, LGBTQ participation in the Virgin Island/Puerto Rico Friendship Parade and other community events. Additional funds raised are available for grants to organizations proposing to provide services within the mission area of the corporation.
