Jump off the Frederiksted Pier!

St. Croix 100 - #31 Jump off the Frederiksted PierA favorite pastime of locals and visitors alike is to jump off the Frederiksted Pier. St. Croix is one of the few places left that allows the public to jump off a working pier, and here on the island it is like a rite of passage. With calm, crystal clear water surrounding it, Frederiksted Pier is a great place to jump in and go for a swim!

As long as there is no cruise ship in port, the public can access the pier which offers a designated area for you to jump from with ladders to make the climb back up to the pier easier. In the designated area you’ll be jumping approximately 25 feet down into water that is just as deep. You will love the exhilarating feeling of free falling before splashing into the warm Caribbean Sea. It’s liberating, and makes you feel like a kid again. As an added bonus, if you jump wear mask or goggles you will surely see a variety of little tropical fish as you swim back to the ladder to ascend, or you can swim around the pylons and check out the abundance of sponges, coral, and sea life.

When you are ready to take the plunge, please be aware that while conditions are usually flat and calm there is no lifeguard or rescue boat, so you are on your own. Please be safe and do not do this in conditions less than perfect. Children will love it with proper adult supervision and discretion. Whether you jump just for the fun it, as the start to a dive around the pier, or to go for a swim or snorkel, enjoy all of the fun and beauty the Frederiksted Pier has to offer!

After you are done jumping off the pier, which will likely happen multiple times, relax on the beach or grab a bite and enjoy the beautiful West End of St. Croix.
