19 - 25 | Ceremony of Skills
Many cultures living close to the earth throughout human history had ceremonies and rituals that were associated with the skills that they made and lived from. In this class we will expand our awareness and deepen our relationship with ancient skills - and nature through a “ceremonial mindset.” Students will learn numerous different hands-on skills, which will be accompanied by simple ceremonies through each step of work. In addition, students will learn and take part in a number of different ceremonies, as taught to us by our teacher, Tom Brown, Jr. and originating from his teacher, Stalking Wolf, and Stalking Wolf’s clan and lineage. A sample of skills learned would include spear making, basket making, trapping, and medicinal and edible plant knowledge.

The East End Marine Park is excited to host their 4th annual Trunk or Treat. The community is invited to come to the park for an evening of Halloween celebrations, including decorated trunks, vendors, music, costume contests, art projects, and educational marine park displays! Head to Leatherback Brewing Company on the first Saturday of each month for a FREE outdoor movie on the lawn. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, friends and family and enjoy a movie under the stars. Come early and order your favorite pizza or snack. The bar will be open for beer and cocktails as well. For Halloween, the movie will be the Rocky Horror Picture Show (Rated R)!

Reservations are available 5-7pm, and free registration for the costume contest is from 6:30-7:30pm. For adults only. The categories are individuals, couples, or groups. 1st place wins $500! There will be door prizes and & raffle with a chance to win a generator, a TV, & more. The contest kicks off at 8pm, but you must arrive before 7:30pm to register in person.
