@ St. George Village Botanical Gardens

In August things slow way down in St. Croix. With temperatures sometimes climbing to 90 degrees, you’re time will be best spent limin’ at the beach, floating in the clear Caribbean Sea or in the pool, snorkeling or diving! Temperatures typically range from the upper 70’s to around 90°F, and while August falls within the wetter part of the year, rain showers are usually brief and followed by sunshine.

September brings the warmth of late summer to St. Croix, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from the upper 80s into the low 90s. While it’s one of the island’s warmest months, the refreshing trade winds and inviting Caribbean waters make it easy to cool off, whether you’re relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, or enjoying a leisurely day by the pool.

Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of the month and is a great time to experience St. Croix’s laid-back island lifestyle. Those looking for a challenge can take part in one of the month’s annual fitness events, including the Labor Day 5K Race, the Virgin Islands 10K Race, and the Wall 2 Wall Sprint Triathlon.

October continues St. Croix’s warm tropical weather, with daytime temperatures typically reaching the upper 80s. As the month progresses, the island begins to welcome the return of cruise ships, bringing a renewed energy to Frederiksted and Christiansted while still maintaining the relaxed atmosphere that makes St. Croix so special.

November is one of the most activity-filled months on St. Croix. With daytime temperatures easing into the mid-80s, the cooler weather makes it an ideal time to enjoy the island’s many outdoor events as the holiday season begins.

Thanksgiving weekend marks the start of the festive season, with beloved traditions like the Christmas Jump Up in Christiansted and Starving Artist Day offering the perfect opportunity to experience local culture while getting a head start on holiday shopping.

December is one of the most festive times of year on St. Croix. With warm, sunny days and temperatures typically in the low to mid-80s, the island comes alive with holiday celebrations, cherished traditions, and the beginning of the Crucian Christmas Festival season.

Throughout the month, visitors and locals can enjoy annual favorites including Garden of Lights, the Christiansted Holiday Boat Parade, the Coquito Festival, the Coconut Festival, the Cane Bay 5 Mile Road Race, and the St. Croix International Marathon.

As winter fades and spring is reborn, it is a beautiful time of year in St. Croix! Temperatures range from the mid-70’s to the mid-80’s and there are only 7 days of rain on average, making April one of St. Croix’s sunniest and coolest months.

The islanders take advantage of the nice weather to host a variety of annual events in April. How about participating in an a more athletic activity such as the Golden Hook Dolphin Fishing Tournament?

January on St. Croix brings the most anticipated event of the year, Crucian Christmas Festival. The Crucian Christmas Festival starts in December but culminates in January with the children’s parade and the adult parade, the latter being the most anticipated event of the Crucian carnival season.

Christiansted Harbor
February brings comfortable, drier weather to St. Croix making it the perfect time for St. Croix to host the agricultural festival in the Territory, AgriFest. This weekend long cultural festival is a celebration and exhibition of local produce, livestock and and handmade products attended by visitors and exhibitors from around the Caribbean. February also brings one of Christiansted’s four annual Jump Ups, the North Shore’s Mardi Croix Parade and the annual Orchid Show at the St. George Village Botanical Garden. You can also continue to enjoy a few of the recurring monthly events such as Art Thursday in live music at the fort in Christiansted, and outdoor moves.

FEBRUARY ON ST. CROIX

Frederiksted Waterfront
March is a great time to be on St. Croix. With beautiful weather and lots of sunshine comes lots of events and things to do, most notably the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Held in Christiansted, this parade is full of festive floats, live music, dancing and the quintessential mocko jumbies. You can also enjoy other outdoor events like activities like the Christiansted Vintage and Collectibles Fair, road races and sporting events. On a cultural note, March 31st is Transfer Day which commemorates the day that the Danish West Indies were formally ceded to the United States by Denmark, thus becoming the US Virgin Islands.

Mermaid Mixer

With sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s, May is the perfect time to get outside on St. Croix. From the annual Kite Festival and Mermaid Mixer to Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day celebrations, the island is filled with fun all month long.

Off Season: May is part of the tourism off season on St. Croix, and is an especially laid-back time on the island.

The Women's Race

June begins a warming trend for St. Croix bringing temperatures into the high-80’s, but the tropical breezes and warm turquoise waters inspire many Caribbean weddings here in June.

Graduations and Father’s Day events bring families and friends together to celebrate with beach barbecues or special events offered by the local resorts and restaurants. June is a great month for family events here on St. Croix!

As is the case with many of the months here on St. Croix, June also offers some great outdoor fitness events. Bring the family out and participate in the 2 Mile annual Women’s Race or the 1 Mile Olympic Day Race.
