We are sad to lose airline partner @spiritairlines as news breaks of their immediate shutdown and no further flights, effective immediately. For the past 5 years, Spirit has served STX with a direct STX-FLL flight, as well as STT-FLL.
For visitors and business travelers, it has been a convenient flight from South Florida without having to navigate the much larger MIA airport. For us residents, it has been a lifeline with easy access to medical care, convenient connections, and access to a great weekend getaway.
While I know Spirit’s had a difficult reputation and many people did not like them, I found this STX-FLL flight to be so convenient, and I will miss it.
Out of respect for thousands of folks out of work suddenly, and thousands of passengers in a dire situation, and the ripple effect economies feel when airlift evaporates from their infrastructure, please refrain from bashing, and let’s just say…. goodbye and thank you to @spiritairlines for your service.

@LeatherbackBrewing turns 8 on Saturday, May 2, 2026 and the celebration starts at 12:00 pm alongside the Kentucky Derby.
The anniversary party is the first of eight events planned throughout the month as a thank you to the community.
Opening day highlights include the El Ocho Anniversary Beer Release, a Puppy Derby, a Kentucky Derby Big Hat Contest, a Best Dressed Contest and DJ Pablo with karaoke.
