"The U.S. Virgin Islands — St. Croix, in particular — has become a mecca for gay travelers, many of whom wind up at the welcoming Sand Castle on the Beach Resort in Fredericksted. Gay travelers can expect a friendly and tolerant attitude throughout the U.S.V.I., and if public displays of affection are not exactly embraced, the reaction is not likely to be more than a second glance."  -tripsavvy.com (Gay and Lesbian Friendly Destinations in the Caribbean)

"St. Croix is considered the mecca of gay tourism in USVI where gay guesthouses like Sand Castle on the Beach can arrange anything from a gay-friendly dive trip to a romantic honeymoon or wedding package."  -Miami Herald (Caribbean Pride: LGBT-Friendly Island Getaways)

"St. Croix is the least visited of the three major American islands, which is part of its draw. There are few sprawling resorts, meaning most of the accommodations are intimate places where the staff gets to know you by name. It doesn't have rainbow flags on every business, but it does offer a friendly welcome to visitors of all sexual orientations, and is still one of the most gay-friendly places in the Caribbean."  -Daily Xtra Travel (Gay St. Croix)

"By far the biggest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands, St, Croix is mysterious and fascinating. The towns, Christiansted and Frederiksted, are not as developed as Charlotte Amalie and the countryside is still relatively au naturel...The most popular beach on St. Croix is Dorscht Beach. The beautiful views, crystal clear water and calming waves are intoxicating. This is also a great place to run into other gay and lesbian travelers on holiday...If you are looking for more adventure, Buck Island is about four miles off of Christiansted. The area offers fabulous water sports and beach activities."  -Passport Magazine

GAY FRIENDLY BUSINESSES

In general, St. Croix is a very friendly place. You will find yourself being greeted with a 'good morning', 'good afternoon', or 'good night' as you walk along the streets or stop into local shops and eateries. The people of the island tend to be welcoming, but like many other Caribbean islands the locals tend to be a bit on the conservative side. That being said, Gaytravel.com wrote: "St. Croix is the most gay-friendly locale on the U.S. Virgins Islands...It remains a popular destination with gay locals and tourists alike."
