One of the most unique places to stay on St. Croix. The Feather Leaf Inn is the transformation of a 262-year-old private sugar plantation into an incredible experience for travelers. It embodies the history of St. Croix while providing modern conveniences and breathtaking scenery across 19 oceanfront acres. The Feather Leaf Inn is located on the west end of St Croix just down the road from the island’s most popular beaches, snorkeling and diving destinations. The owners are also participating in coral reef conservation as well as the National Forest Stewardship program to sustain biodiversity as well as increase food production on the island. If you want to learn more about St Croix, this is the place to stay.
Experiences
The Feather Leaf Inn is made for experiences.
Experiences in nature, in rejuvenation, in learning, in health, in rest and in wonder. We’re far different from your typical hotel and we like it that way. This historic sugar plantation estate was built in 1760 and recently underwent a major restoration to open as the Feather Leaf Inn. You won’t find TVs in the rooms, but we provide good wifi. What you will find is snorkeling gear you can borrow to explore the Caribbean and get to know the colorful tropical fish right in front of the inn. We have bicycles you can borrow to ride along the west coast of the island; Â explore the lighthouse hike, the monks’ baths, the town of Frederiksted and Rainbow Beach.
Coffee and tea are available each morning in the expansive living room of the main estate house. If you’d like to cook a meal you can use the shared kitchen. All of our rooms have private bathrooms and they are all quite different. You’ll still find historic hardwood louvers on the window openings of the main house. These let the Caribbean breezes through the rooms. Our Sea View Suite has two large rooms with a four-poster king bed, inlaid floors, a pull chain toilet and a hand crank record player. Plus, our Ocean House is a stand alone vacation house with stone arched windows and vaulted ceilings.
We’re away from the noises of the city and immersed in the sounds of lapping waves and the gentle chorus of frogs. Guests are welcome to walk the grounds, lay in a hammock and explore the historic ruins. We’ve planted a young food forest of tropical fruit and nut trees and we’re working towards solutions in food sustainability and habitat restoration. We’re scuba divers and USA Today said that the shipwrecks right in front of the inn are the best spot to dive in all of the Caribbean. We’ll gladly tell you about our plans to protect and restore the coral reefs.
If you’re looking for a hotel, book a hotel. But if you’re looking for a Caribbean experience where you can explore and learn, come stay with us at the Feather Leaf Inn.

About Us
Ryan and Corina
We sailed to St. Croix in December of 2017. Corina is a marine scientist and Ryan has a background in historic restoration. Both of us are passionate about education and solutions for a healthier environment.
Our Interests
Forest stewardship and food security: At the Feather Leaf Inn we’ve planted over 100 fruit and nut trees. We want to grow food to serve at the Inn, support local farming communities and rely less on food that is shipped to the island.
Marine science: We scuba dive and snorkel our coral reefs regularly and love sharing information about the animals and habitats around us. We are engaged in coral reef restoration.
A balanced telling of history: Stewarding a 262 year-old historic property takes a lot of time and dedication. This estate had been private for centuries before we opened it as an inn. When the Danish colonized the island they enslaved tens of thousands of people from Africa to grow sugar for Europe. We want to share the complete history of what happened here, learn and grow from it.
Sustainability: In its essence, the building restoration at the Feather Leaf Inn is an upcycle project. We believe in re-using what we have rather than consuming new products or leveling nature to construct new buildings. The Feather Leaf Inn is powered with 100% renewable energy.
