Enjoy Unique Live Entertainment

While you are here on St. Croix, take the opportunity to indulge in some live entertainment. The island offers a wide variety of lively performances for your enjoyment – from cultural dancers and local musicians to fire dancing gypsies, there is something for everyone of every age. Better still, you can find nightly entertainment scattered across the entire island for your convenience.

Probably the most popular form of entertainment here on St. Croix for visitors, and even some residents, are the Caribbean themed nights held at many of the local resorts. In addition to offering buffets of delicious local fare, these Caribbean night events include a combination of live entertainment such as live local bands or musicians, fire dancers, or quadrille dancers (Crucian folk dancers that perform to quelbe music); but, the stars of every Caribbean show are the moko jumbies. These stilt dancers have been a part of Virgin Islands cultural heritage for hundreds of years, and they intrigue everyone with their their colorful costumes, their flamboyant behavior, and most of all, their almost acrobatic feats of dancing on their towering stilts. Don’t miss your chance to dance with one of the moko jumbies – then you can check that off of your list of 100 Things To Do on St. Croix! Check our Calendar of Events for the days and times of these weekly Caribbean shows.

For another unique treat, light up your night with CoralFire – St. Croix’s local fire dancing troupe. These ladies and gentlemen are some of the island’s most popular entertainers, and are not to be missed. You and your family will watch in awe as these talented artists perform amazing fire dancing routines to popular music. I can tell you from personal experience that their shows are a hit with visitors of all ages, and they are always fun to watch. See CoralFire  perform at many of the weekly resort Caribbean nights, as well as at local parades, festivals, events, and jump ups.

Speaking of jump ups…these quarterly Christiansted block party-style events are bursting with live entertainment! The streets downtown are closed off to traffic and moko jumbies roam around entertaining the crowds, and steel drum and calypso bands march along the streets playing to hundreds of spectators dancing and clapping along to the music. The boardwalk comes alive with the sounds of DJs and live bands spilling out from the waterfront bars and restaurants. Restaurants and shops stay open late, and vendors offer local favorites and delectable street food.

Live music can be found all around St. Croix, and you can find a wide variety of local bands and musicians playing at restaurants, bars, resorts, and along the boardwalk. Twice each month you can also find free outdoor jazz concerts, Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted and Jazz in the Park in Christiansted. Stop by the Divi Carina Bay Casino for live music and dancing, and maybe play a casino game or two while you listen. Caravelle Hotel & Casino brings in great bands from around the Caribbean for their block parties, held on the Christiansted boardwalk. Or, for something truly unique, enjoy the beauty of a sunset sail complete with live music aboard Lyric Sails.

If you would like to see a fun show and support the community, consider taking in a play at Caribbean Community Theatre. This local group of actors, producers, and crew are all passionate about theatre and St. Croix, and it shows in their work. Each year they offer a array of musicals, comedies, and dramas that entertain sell-out audiences and showcase the talent found on this small island.

Whatever your tastes, check out the entertainment offered at bars, restaurants, resorts, and public venues all across the island of St. Croix! For a list of upcoming events and live entertainment, please visit our Calendar of Events.
