This is what the Waves at Cane Bay hotel looks like now. It reopened in 2021, completely renovated and redesigned. The hotel is built directly on the water with a natural grotto and endless views of St. Croix’s north shore, with amazing sunsets, and north to St. Thomas, St. John and BVI’s.
No matter where you are on the property, you’ll have gorgeous views of Cane Bay. The breeze is glorious, and the sunsets are spectacular.
Brand New Guest Rooms
There are 11 guest suites. All have air conditioning, king-sized beds, private bathrooms, free wifi, Apple TV, Marshall bluetooth stereos and luxurious materials.
Superior Rooms include kitchenettes, and all rooms feature venetian plaster walls, tropical wood furniture, and ceiling fans.
All 11 guest suites have private balconies with views of the Caribbean Sea, making them a perfect place to have a cup of coffee in the morning, or an evening cocktail.
On-Site Restaurant : AMA @ Cane Bay
AMA at Cane Bay is an oceanfront sustainable seafood restaurant and craft cocktail bar that offers an unforgettable dining experience. Local farmers, environmentally responsible fisherman and divers provide AMA with fresh ingredients that direct the menu; so you’ll enjoy local seafood and seasonal specials. A new menu featuring sharing plates has been added.
AMA’s covered outdoor dining room sits just above the natural grotto and includes two bars featuring handcrafted cocktails and an extensive wine list. The sunset views are incredible, making AMA one of the most romantic nights out you’ll ever have.

On-Site Cocktails : Sunset Bar VI
Sunset Bar is open Tue-Sat from 4pm until late, serving up craft cocktails, frozen cocktails, and rose on a stylish cliffside patio on the sea. Stop in for a drink and some light appetizers like fresh ceviche, or just enjoy the sunset with an artisanal cocktail. The full AMA menu is also available.
Private Events / Weddings
For intimate weddings, corporate and private events, you’ll find AMA and Sunset Bar in position to provide the perfect staffing, food, and backdrop customized for you. Book the entire hotel (all 11 suites) to take-over the entire property for a destination wedding beyond compare so guests can stay on site for your special occasion.
Cane Bay, North Shore
The Waves at Cane Bay is an easy 1-2 minute walk to Cane Bay beach, where you’ll find world-class scuba diving (the famous wall), with a full-service dive shop on premises, as well as casual restaurants, a breakfast food truck, live music a few nights a week, and an amazing vibe of locals and guests enjoying St. Croix all day long. In nearby Salt River (an ecological preserve and national park), there’s kayak tours and rentals, Stand Up Paddle boarding, and the amazing bioluminescent bay experience waiting for you.
