The island of St. Croix has made quite a few on-screen appearances. If you wonder why, just look around. St. Croix has been chosen as the backdrop for, or even the star of many a television show, movie, travel vlog, and even commercials because of our white sandy beaches, calm Caribbean waters, quaint towns, and historic sugar mills. Plus, St. Croix is a U.S. territory full of friendly people and unique experiences. The Shawshank Redemption

The final scene of this movie supposedly showed Zihuatanejo, but was actually filmed at Sandy Point Beach on St. Croix's West End.

Trading Places

The final scene, filmed on St. Croix's beautiful North Shore, featured Eddie Murphy on the beach with a glass of champagne, and Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis on the sailboat. "Looking good, Billy Ray!" "Feeling good, Louis!"

Dinosarus!

This entire movie was filmed on St. Croix. Not familiar with this movie? The plot: "After undersea explosions near a Caribbean island, prehistoric creatures are unleashed on the unsuspecting population."

The Island of Dr. Moreau

Filmed entirely on St. Croix, this H.G. Wells novel tells the story of a shipwrecked survivor discovering a remote island owned by a crazed scientist who is carrying out sinister experiments on the island's inhabitants.

The Big Blue

While you may know this famous free diving movie set in the Mediterranean, many will be surprised to learn that parts of this movie were filmed on St. Croix.

Dreams of Gold: The Mel Fischer Story

This made-for-tv movie tells the story of Mel Fischer's search for the wreck of the Atocha off the coast of Florida, but this movie was filmed on St. Croix. In fact, one of the movie props is now part of a popular dive site, known as the Jungle Gym, at Butler Bay.

Chief Zabu

Chief Zabu is a long-unreleased comedy written, produced and directed by Neil Cohen and Zack Norman. St. Croix stars as the newly-independent Polynesian island of 'Tiburaku' that two New York realtors are scheming to take over.

The episode that supposedly took place in The Bahamas, including an exciting car chase ending in the harbor, was actually filmed in downtown Christiansted.

The Greatest American Hero

This campy adventure/comedy/sci-fi show filmed an episode on St. Croix, although it was portrayed as Bermuda. In this episode Bill investigates whether dinosaur attacks may cause the loss of ships in the Bermuda Triangle. Watch for St. Croix landmarks!

This two hour episode of The Bachelor was filmed entirely on St. Croix and includes their arrival by seaplane, their immersion in a traditional Festival parade of masqueraders and mocko jumbies in historic Christiansted, a romantic sunrise at Point Udall, and dining in centuries-old sugar mill ruins.

Another World

The Mac/Rachel/Janice/Mitch storyline on this popular daytime soap opera had carried on for a year when it culminated in scenes shot on location in St. Croix, including a murder.
