Women’s Dive Day
Back in 2015, PADI created an annual Women’s Dive Day with the goal of celebrating and encouraging women who scuba dive. The event was a huge success, and has continued to grow every year since. Here on St. Croix, one or more of our dive shops hosts an event each July for divers who wish to participate in Women’s Dive Day, so come join in the fun!
California Diver did a great job of describing the influence of Women’s Dive Day: “Committed to fostering a global community that encourages divers of all genders, ages and experience levels to safely and confidently explore the underwater world, PADI launched the first PADI Women’s Dive Day in 2015. Growing year over year, PADI Women’s Dive Day swelled to more than 1,000 events in 104 countries in 2018, further strengthening female participation in scuba diving worldwide.
It has become evident the positive influence of these events extends beyond gender. Since the inception of PADI Women’s Dive Day five years ago, events around the globe have taken on conservation and community-minded causes at their core, giving divers the opportunity to take action, give back and be a force for good both above and below the surface.”
St. Croix is home to many woman owned (or co-owned) dive shops, several major reef conservation efforts, and a huge community of local divers. I find that there really is nothing that compares to the zen state you experience when you dive below the surface and become part of the under sea world. Diving St. Croix offers turquoise Caribbean Sea, beautiful reefs surrounded by tropical fish, rays, turtles, and even reef sharks. We invite all divers, and those who want to give diving a try, to participate in one of our local Women’s Dive Day events…or anytime for that matter. Come share our passion for adventure, conservation and the ocean.
