The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (CMCArts) is a welcoming space where Caribbean art, culture, and creativity come together. Located by the sea in Frederiksted, it features rotating exhibitions showcasing local and Caribbean artists, with new displays every two to three months.
Established 30 years ago, CMCArts is the only art museum in the region and plays an important role in preserving and celebrating Caribbean cultural heritage. Its mission is to make art accessible to everyone, encourage creative expression, and bring people together through shared cultural experiences. Admission is free, and the center welcomes more than 26,000 visitors each year.
Beyond the galleries, CMCArts offers classes, workshops, and educational programs for all ages. Activities range from drawing, watercolor, batik, and clay studio sessions to yoga, music, theater, and dance. Youth programs provide opportunities for young people to explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect with their culture. The center also hosts regular events, including live music, film screenings, concerts, artist receptions, and cultural gatherings.
Be sure to visit the museum store, where you’ll find original artwork by Caribbean artists, prints, handmade gifts, and souvenirs. Purchases also help support CMCArts and its community programming.
Whether you’re interested in discovering local artists, trying something creative, or learning more about the history and culture of the Caribbean, CMCArts offers an engaging experience for residents and visitors alike.
