Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (CMCArts) is where art happens! Come stroll through our seaside open-air galleries full of rotating cultural exhibitions featuring local artists and art from around the Caribbean. Shop our Museum store to purchase art for your personal collection or souvenirs, use our library, or attend one of our many events. Cultural and historical exhibits are presented throughout the year, plus CMCArts offers a wide variety of classes, workshops, forums, and other educational programming during the year for all ages. CMCArts is open to the public Tuesday thru Saturday from 9am to 4pm and virtually at cmcarts.org.

About CMCArts

The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (CMCArts) was established to support youth by offering alternative forms of positive expression through art and culture. For 30 years, CMCArts has been a unifying force, bridging diverse backgrounds and bringing people together through the spirit of artistic exploration. The community’s Caribbean American identities are explored and shared through the arts through interpretive, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary exhibitions, workshops, classes and educational programs for all ages. Our programs provide a welcoming, inclusive and safe space to explore our culture through diverse expressions and inspire all generations to express their experiences. CMCArts engages over 26,000 visitors annually, offering free entry to ensure maximum inclusivity.

We are the only art museum in the region. We preserve our cultural heritage while activating “art for all” through inclusive arts education that provide insights into the region’s complex history, diverse traditions, and vibrant creative community. We promote creativity and self-empowerment with our community.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions rotate every 2 to 3 months and feature local and Caribbean artists in a wide range of artistic mediums. To see a list of the past and current exhibitions, click here .

Permanent Collection

CMCArts Permanent Collection is made possible through generous donations by our members and artists. Our collection is very diverse and reflects many artists from or living in the Virgin Islands as well as from around the world.

Classes & Workshops

In addition to our gallery exhibits, CMCArts offers a wide variety of classes, workshops and other educational programming during the year. Classes and workshops for all ages include yoga, life and perspective drawing, watercolor, batik, cyanotype, and clay studio instruction. Music, theater and dance workshops are also offered with award winning artists from around the world with outreach programs targeting and engaging our island’s youth, and culminating in public performances. Educational outreach to our island school children centered around CMCArts gallery exhibits invigorate students, teachers and parents.

Events

CMCArts also hosts a wide range of monthly events, including local music, film screenings, educational trips, concerts for visiting musicians, artist receptions, as well as cultural events. To find out about upcoming events at CMCArts, click here .

Museum Store

Shop our Museum store to purchase art for your personal collection or souvenirs! Our Museum store’s primary mission is to create awareness and appreciation for the Caribbean Arts and Culture. You will find a collection of original art by Caribbean artists, as well as prints, and handmade artisan giftable items. You’ll also find the current CMCArts ‘Island Art & Soul’ calendar which showcases Caribbean artists and their work. The artists donate 40% of the sale price to CMCArts to help us continue to provide programming for the community.
