St. Croix now has a ridesharing app, VI Hail, for those looking for an Uber type ride. Taxis are plentiful on St. Croix. But, with rates being high, using taxis as your main source of transport for multiple days can really add up! We highly recommend that you rent a car for at least part of your stay on St. Croix, because there are so many sites to see across every part of the island. Or, for the patient person willing to wait, there’s Public Transportation provided by VITRAN (Virgin Islands Transportation). Call VITRAN at 778-0898 or 773-1664 for details. Another affordable way to get around is with group taxi vans (marked ‘Taxi’). Economy-minded visitors can pick up a ride from Christiansted to Frederiksted or reverse for $2.50, if they are willing to share with local riders. Departures are from the Market Square in Christiansted and Buddhoe Park in Frederiksted, but the vans can also be flagged down along the route.
