Culture

On St. Croix culture abounds due to our rich history and combination of native Carib and Taino, African, European, Caribbean and American heritages. The people of St. Croix (known as Crucians) are proud of their culture, and are happy to share it with you. St. Croix is home to quadrille dancing, quelbe and steel drum music, as well as storytellers who recount legendary local stories. Cultural entertainment, including the iconic mocko jumbies, can be found at events and activities all year long. There are also some unique annual events that highlight the island's culture such as Crucian Carnival, the Agricultural Fair, or Mango Melee. Find fun experiences for the whole family, and incorporate some of the colorful local culture into your time on St. Croix.
