As winter fades and spring is reborn, it is a beautiful time of year in St. Croix! Temperatures range from the mid-70’s to the mid-80’s and there are only 7 days of rain on average, making April one of St. Croix’s sunniest and coolest months.

The islanders take advantage of the nice weather to host a variety of annual events in April. Local Seafood in Season: Caribbean Spiny Lobster, Conch, Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna.

Local Fruits in Season: Soursop, coconut, papaya, banana, pineapple, passionfruit, watermelon, sugar cane, noni.

Seasonal Flowers + Blooming Plants: Century plants bloom in early spring to late summer with clusters of bright yellow flowers. The South American cannonball tree is also in bloom, with fragrant red flowers and giant cannonball fruits.

Seasonal Wildlife to Watch For: Humpback whales migrate along St. Croix during the late winter months. There are also occasional sights of whale sharks and manta rays.

Migratory Birds to Watch For: Black-necked Stilt, Blue-winged Teal, Great Blue Heron, and Northern Waterthrush migrate to the Virgin Islands for the winter months.
