Mango Season!

While July is a quieter month on St. Croix’s events calendar, it still offers several of the island’s most cherished cultural celebrations and traditions. Warm Caribbean days, with temperatures typically reaching the upper 80s, make it an ideal time to enjoy the crystal-clear waters, relax on the beach or by the pool, or head out for snorkeling, diving, sailing, or fishing.

The month begins with Emancipation Day on July 3, commemorating the 1848 uprising led by General Buddhoe that secured freedom for enslaved people in the Danish West Indies. Throughout the week, the island honors this historic milestone with cultural performances, ceremonies, educational events, and the annual Fort-to-Fort Walk to Freedom, retracing the historic journey from Christiansted to Frederiksted.

On July 4, Frederiksted’s waterfront becomes the center of celebration as residents and visitors gather for an evening of entertainment capped by a spectacular fireworks display over the pier.

July also welcomes Mango Melee, one of St. Croix’s most anticipated annual festivals. Held at the beautiful St. George Village Botanical Gardens, the event celebrates the island’s beloved mango with culinary demonstrations, local food and drink, artisan vendors, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities.

Depending on the year, July may also feature one of Christiansted’s popular Jump Up street festivals.

Whether you’re exploring the island’s history, celebrating alongside locals, or simply enjoying long sunny days on the beach, July offers an unforgettable blend of culture, community, and tropical adventure on St. Croix.
