Art Thursday: Meet and Mingle with St. Croix Artists
While St. Croix is a small island, it has a large array of artists. From painters and sculptors, to photographers and jewelers, St. Croix is home to many talented artists and designers. Christiansted shines a light on local artists, designers, studios and galleries by hosting Art Thursdays on the 3rd Thursday of each month from November through May.
On a typical Art Thursday, as you stroll through historic downtown Christiansted you are serenaded by live music while enjoying complimentary wine and refreshments at of many of the local artists’ galleries, studios, and shops. This monthly event gives participants a chance to meet the artists, jewelers and designers, while browsing their works. At the same time, Art Thursday affords the galleries and shops a great opportunity to open new exhibits, unveil new design works or feature new artists.
In my opinion, one of the most unique things about St. Croix is getting an opportunity to meet the artist that created the jewelry, photograph or artwork that you are purchasing. It makes the experience of owning an original piece of artwork very personal and memorable. Not to mention that all of the artists have a different inspiration and story behind their creations, and it’s fun to get a chance to talk to them about their work and their connection to the island.
Art Thursdays happen monthly from November through May, so head to Christiansted for a fun evening of shopping and socializing that celebrates the wonderful artists that capture the beauty and uniqueness of St. Croix!
