November on St. Croix

November is an activity-filled month on St. Croix! With temperatures cooling down slightly so the highs are in the mid-80’s, the year’s biggest holiday season kicks off and the athletes come out for several different events. After you enjoy Thanksgiving, soak up some local culture and start your holiday shopping at the Christmas Jump-Up (St. Croix’s Black Friday in Christiansted) or Striving Artist Day.

Caribbean Community Theatre presents Done to Death, a mystery comedy by Fred Carmichael, directed by Malerie Gleason. This play tells the story of once-famous mystery writers who involve the audience as they apply their individual methods to solving various murders. Follow along as the characters uncover clues and navigate twists and turns in this classic whodunit with a comedic twist.

16  | Reclaiming Our Built Heritage: Uncovering St. Croix Stories

The Virgin Islands Architecture Center for Built Heritage and Crafts (VIAC) is holding a meeting for the public to hear and share stories of St. Croix's built heritage spaces. VIAC is designing its Museum Cultural Heritage Spaces at the Old Barracks.

This is an opportunity for the community to participate in shaping these exhibition and cultural spaces by sharing ideas, stories, and narratives that you want to see. There will be a special focus on the Free Gut neighborhoods in both towns, Hospital Street in Christiansted, and the Vegetable Market by Pon Bush Lagoon in Frederiksted. The streets are closed off to traffic so that the Moko Jumbies can roam, and St. Croix social service organizations, youth groups and calypso bands sprinkle the town. 29 - 30 | Crucian Coconut Festival

The Crucian Coconut Festival welcomes visitors and vendors from the U. S. Virgin Islands and abroad to celebrate the wonders of the coconut. Guests enjoy curated exhibits of agriculture, commerce, fine arts, horticulture, crafts, fashion, and food.  The coconut is a Caribbean identifier and is woven into the fabric of Virgin Islands culture. The festival is an ode to farmers who work hard everyday to preserve the historical and agricultural legacy of the coconut and many other indigenous flora of the Virgin Islands. The Festival continues through the 1st of December.

30  | Yoga Dive with Sweet Bottom Dive Center

This Yoga Dive Workshop is an experience focusing on breathwork, buoyancy, and cultivating a calm mindset before and throughout a dive. The event begins with a 1-hour yoga class on land, before the yoga dive beneath the crystal clear waters of Cane Bay Beach. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel for yoga on land. All dive gear and tanks will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. A support diver will take photos of your elegant underwater yoga poses! The night begins with a sunset dinner featuring delicious food from The Chicken Shack, served right on the Museum’s scenic waterfront. (Vegan options will also be available!)

30  | The Greatest Show on Earth: Spectacular Spectacular

Spectacular Spectacular is a monthly circus/Moulin Rouge themed talent show. Each month, the Greatest Show on Earth team puts together a fun, theatrical event showcasing talent from the local community and visitors, whether song, dance , comedy, spoken word, or any other form of performance. A featured artist performs a longer set, highlighting the island's talent!
This event raises much needed funds for the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center through raffles, cocktails for a cause (sponsored by Mutiny Island Vodka), merch sales, and donations. Non-food/drink vendors are invited to set up a booth to sell their goods as well.
