Christiansted, St. Croix is a picturesque waterfront town who’s beautiful historic buildings house custom jewelers, art galleries, tour operators, boutiques, restaurants, and other local businesses. Twice a year in Limpricht Park, right in the heart of downtown Christiansted, many of the local artists and artisans, vendors and shoppers gather for the Christiansted Antiques and Collectibles Fair. This biannual fair is hosted by the Christiansted Community Alliance (CCA), a group of residents, business and property owners, schools, churches, professionals and individuals that recognize the uniqueness of Christiansted and are working together to revitalize the town. This family-friendly event is a great way to support Christiansted and to do some shopping all at the same time!
Once each Spring and once each Fall, Limpricht Park on Christiansted’s King Street comes to life with vendors, music, local food and drinks, and activities for the kids. Shopping at the Antiques and Collectibles Fair includes some great vintage finds, antiques, collectibles, one-of-a-kind furniture, textiles, local art, and fantastic locally carved wood furniture and sculptures for your home. For the fashion fabulous you will undoubtedly find locally made jewelry, clothing, and unique scarves or fabrics. For those who enjoy cooking (or just eating) you can find local herbs and spices, local honey, locally made mead or wine, coconut oil, and even fresh herbs and fruit trees for planting. There are treasures for everyone!
If you want to bring the kids along don’t worry, there are childrens activities offered throughout the day. While you shop, the kids can enjoy story time under the shade trees, or participate in arts and crafts. Most importantly, don’t miss out on some of the delicious specialties from the food vendors! You can sample many of the local favorites like roti, pates, kallaloo, smoothies, ginger beer, sorrel tea, tamarind drink, and more. You can also indulge in something sweet like homemade pastries, cakes, cookies, breads or ginger candy. There are some benches available in Limpricht Park, so you can enjoy your lunch or sweet treats in the shade of the beautiful trees.
