Hotel on the Cay is now under new management, headed up by the energetic Lindsay Houston, and the property is going to be revamped and renewed for the new decade. The hotel is the perfect destination for the active traveler– with the St. Croix Watersports Center on location, jet skiing, kayaking, boat trips, snorkeling and windsurfing are all at your fingertips. Or it’s a fantastic retreat for the traveler who wants to get away from it all in a serene location; but still have access to the dining, shops, restaurants and activities located in Christiansted. An affordable, laid-back atmosphere with it’s own beach and access to Christiansted– perfect for every traveler!
Hotel on the Cay is unique in the way it interacts with the island of Protestant Cay– the hotel is a part of the island, with lush trees and plants surrounding you as you walk the grounds; even interacting with the the structure of the building. The sandy white beach and clear water are always just steps away on such a small island. The unique views of Christiansted, Gallows Bay, and the Harbor are second to none.
Did you know that Hotel on the Cay is the home to an endangered species of lizard called the St. Croix Ground Lizard? They live only on Protestant Cay and Green Cay. It is thought that there are only about 400 of these animals left on Protestant Cay, and as the hotel gears up for it’s big changes, they are vigilant about ensuring the safety of these lizards and maintaining their habitat and food sources. They are even adopting the St. Croix Ground Lizard as a mascot of sorts. Maybe you can spot one on you next tip to the Cay.
So if you need to get off the rock and take a daycation or change your perspective, explore Hotel on the Cay. Or it’s a fantastic option for nature loving visitors to St. Croix. And it’s only going to get better, so look for fabulous changes coming soon! For more info, check out their website or their listing on our accomodations page.

I love love love hotel Cay. Friendly people and so close to historic district. I will be coming back in March and can’t wait. See you soon all.
I saw lots of lizards there. Could you post a picture of the ground lizard so I can look for them in March when I come back?
We stayed there during our pre move visit. I must say it was terribly run down so hopefully they will do a remodel. It could be an awesome place.
I just found your blog and have added it to my RSS feed. You might want to head over to http://www.lovetolime.com and start a group for St. Croix
