Food Truck Festival: Fun for All Ages
St. Croix’s own Leatherback Brewing Company hosted a Food Truck Festival in 2019 (which we hope will become an annual event!) with live music and fun for the whole family. In May, approximately 20 food trucks gathered at the William Roebuck Industrial Park around Leatherback Brewing Company’s brewery and tasting room, offering a wide array of food truck favorites including Killer Tacos, Pizza Gusto, Gray’s Grill, and Sorbetiere. The event also featured live music by visiting musical performer Karen Waldrup, as well as local performers, and games and activities for all ages.
About 300 attendees came out for the first annual event, which offered up a day filled with food and fun, but also promoted the local food truck scene and the farmers of St. Croix. According to Kleon Gaskin, the Food Truck Festival Coordinator: “While we enjoy introducing new experiences, we also celebrate the traditions that define our community. Food trucks have long provided delectable Caribbean cuisine to Virgin Islanders and visitors alike. Local, authentic and affordable cuisine is available in convenient locations across the islands that boast surprising and visionary fusions and generations old family recipes. Food trucks are quickly influencing the culinary world and have become a hot spot in the Virgin Islands for authentic, memorable culinary experiences.” We couldn’t agree more!
