Take a Sunset Stroll on Frederiksted Pier

St. Croix 100 - #74 Pier SunsetThere is no better way to end a day on St. Croix then by watching the sunset on the Caribbean Sea. On the West End of the island, the Frederiksted Pier offers an amazing venue for this nightly painting of the sky and sea. So, take the time to grab the hands of your loved ones and take a nice long stroll down the Frederiksted Pier at sunset.

While the pier is scenic and fun any time of day, it especially romantic when you intentionally visit to watch the sun go down. Since the tip of the pier is facing west, you will enjoy unobstructed views of the sun, sky and sea as the sun sets in what seems like a performance just for you. As you watch the golden sun sink below the horizon, the sky begins to turn unimaginable shades of orange and mauve. As you walk along, hand in hand, the cooling salt air gently blows all around you, and the calm, tranquil waters become a mirror reflection of the stunning hues of the evening sky.

When you reach the end of the pier, take a moment to sit or stand and take a deep cleansing breath, maybe even share a hug or kiss with the one you love. As you look out, watch for the sailboats that can be seen silhouetted against the dusky sky, and look up to watch the stars slowly appearing above you. As you head back towards the shore, take in the sights and sounds of evening in the historic town of Frederiksted and consider enjoying a nightcap or grabbing a bite to eat out west. Maybe the amazing sunsets and the Frederiksted Pier are why so many islanders think ‘West is Best!’
