August on St. Croix

In August things slow way down in St. Croix. With temperatures sometimes climbing to 90 degrees, your time will be best spent limin' at the beach, floating in the clear Caribbean Sea or in the pool, snorkeling or diving! While there are only a few events on St. Croix in August, you can continue to enjoy some of the recurring monthly events.

2025 Past Event - Fri 01 | Workshop - Earth & Wine

You will design and decorate a patchwork bowl. It will be left at the museum to dry, clear glaze, and fire in the kiln. You will then be notified when it is ready to pick up – generally, about two weeks.

*Each participant will get to choose a glass of white or red wine to enjoy during the art making process.

West Beach. Starting near the Frederiksted Pool.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of St Croix, join in the beach clean up at West Beach, meeting up near the Frederiksted Pool.

2025 Past Event - Sat 02  | Movie Night @ Leatherback Brewing Company

Head to Leatherback Brewing Company on the first Saturday of each month for a FREE outdoor movie on the lawn. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, friends and family and enjoy a movie under the stars. Come early and order your favorite pizza or snack. The bar will be open for beer and cocktails as well. Join the for St. Croix Environmental Association’s Snorkel Clinic:

This FREE, family-friendly event is open to all ages and all experience levels — whether you’re a total beginner or just dusting off your fins for the summer. SEA provides all the gear, trained guides, and a lifeguard, so all you need to bring is your sense of adventure (and your sunscreen)!
Minors must be accompanied by an adult the entire time.
Capacity is limited, so RSVP is strongly recommended!

2025 Past Event - Sun 24  | Triple Bypass Road Race

Test your endurance on a demanding 15-mile cycling course at the Triple Bypass Road Race, presented by the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation. The race starts and finishes in Sally’s Fancy, taking riders through Southgate, over the Christiansted Bypass, and along Southside Road. There will be six racing categories - Elite (45 miles), Expert (30 miles), Sport (15 miles), Masters (15 miles), Women (15 miles) and Juniors (15 miles)

2025 Past Event - 28 Thu - 29 Fri  | Workshop - Intro to Batik

In this two-day introductory class, participants will learn the basics of Batik using a brush technique. Each person will get to complete a pillowcase, t-shirt, tote OR circular Batik painting. Limited supplies of each. On the first day, ninety percent (90%) of the project will be completed while the second day will be used to remove the wax. All materials are included in the price.

2025 Past Event - 30 Sat  | Seagrass Patrol - Whale Bay (Brown Bay)

The St. Croix East End Marine Park is hosting another Seagrass Patrol at Whale Bay (also known as Brown Bay).

We will be teaching attendees how to use a seine net to catch what lives in the seagrass beds that protect our coral reefs. We will also be learning how to identify and collect data about juvenile species of fish and invertebrates. All of this work will be done sustainably with catch and release techniques that our marine biologists on staff have practiced for years.

It is sure to be a fun and educational day for the whole family.
