Art in the Garden

Art in the Garden is an annual event hosted by St. George Village Botanical Garden each March. A fun, modern spin on a traditional Garden Party, Art in the Garden is a two day affair that takes place each March. The event kicks off with a Champagne Artists’ Reception. This first event features framed local art for sale, a lively Garden Party Hat Contest, hors d’ouevres, displays by the Bonsai, Hibiscus, and Orchid Societies, as well as the Art in Bloom! exhibit and auction. Art in Bloom! is an interpretive floral design based on a work of art. The floral design is intended to enhance or interpret the work of art, but not copy it. The artwork and floral interpretation are exhibited together and offered for sale during a silent auction.

The second day of festivities continues with activities for all ages. The art show and sale continue as do the Bonsai and Orchid Society displays. There is a Hibiscus Show and the Garden Nursery and Museum Store offer sales. The Palletteers, a fun-loving, open group of serious painters of all skill levels, paint throughout the Garden. There are activities for for the kids, including chalk art. Food and beverages are available to purchase. St. George Village Botanical Garden is one of St. Croix’s best treasures. More than 1,000 species of plants on 16.5 acres set to a backdrop of historic plantation ruins and nature trails.
