Each year on Veterans Day, La Reine Chicken Shack serves complimentary lunches to to all Veterans and active duty Military members between the hours of 11:30am and 3:30pm. Stop by with your military ID and they'll provide lunch!

The USVI offers special benefits for its military Service members and Veterans including discounted Veterans Home and Land loans, Veterans Employment Preference, Reimbursement for Burial Expenses, Veteran Tuition Assistance and Free License Plates. Eligibility for some benefits may depend on residency, military component and Veteran disability status. Check out a few of the benefits below, or click here to learn more.
VA Mortgages
Schaffer Mortgage can provide VA mortgages offering 100% financing to qualified veterans for loans up to $726,525 (2019 VA Loan limit). VA Loan rates with excellent credit on a 30-year fixed rate are currently 3.625%. Plus, in many cases the sellers will agree to pay a portion or all the veteran’s closing costs.
Free Veteran License Plates
Veterans’ license plates are free to veterans; however, you must pay for the registration process. The Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs said that the new Veterans’ License Plate is available at the St. Croix offices and will be issued between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
In order to receive a veteran license plate, you must be a registered Veteran within the Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs. If you are not registered within the V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs you must bring your DD214 showing proof of your veteran status to the office. In addition to being registered in the office, veterans must present the registration document that is about to be renewed. For those who are importing a car to the Virgin Islands, you must present proof of paying your road tax on your vehicle before receiving a set of plates. Each veteran is authorized to have no more than two sets of Veterans plates registered in their name. Free Tuition at UVICELL
University of the Virgin Islands Community Engagement & Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) offers free tuition to veterans for attendance at the University of the Virgin Islands to participate in the UVICELL program. The programs are free to Virgin Islands Veterans please contact the Office of Veterans Affairs to determine if you qualify. UVICELL offers a wide array of programs to help you achieve your personal and career goals. Programs include both in-class and online courses.
