Enjoy a night out at The Palms for a real taste of Crucian culture.
The Palms certainly got it right with their all-you-can-eat buffet. Fall off the bone ribs, marinated catch-of-the-day, BBQ chicken, mac & cheese, Crucian stuffing (made from sweet potatoes), johnny cakes and more! The best part is you can watch them BBQ-ing right behind the buffet table - can't get any fresher than that! And if you can manage - they set out a nice spread of cookies and desserts too. You certainly won't go home hungry.
And then there's the entertainment. Mocko Jumbies dance to Caribbean beats on their six foot tall stilts. They will show off their moves, then invite you onto the dance floor with them. Dance around them, run through their stilted legs, or pose for a picture, this is something you will be sure to remember. The last time we went, we were still sitting at our table (enjoying watching the other guests dance around the Jumbies) and one of them ducked his head under the roof to beckon us out to dance - how could we say no?
If that isn't enough to awe you - watch out for Kiki and The Flaming Gypsies, a fire dancing troupe of women that are mesmerizing. From their festive costumes and wigs to their fun and eclectic music, you'll think they've just dropped in from the circus. And did I mention they spin fire? Real, flaming, hot fire! These girls spin flaming hula-hoops and flaming chains and I've seen a few of them eat fire too. Just wait until you see them do what I can only describe as "the buzz saw." You've got to see it to believe it.
Caribbean Night at The Palms is a family friendly event designed to share the friendly and festive local culture. Kids will enjoy the excitement and energy. Music, dancing, performances, and even a limbo contest on the beach. You'll have a good time, guaranteed.
